There is a known issue with Outlook for the Mac where granting someone Free/Busy or Limited Details access to your calendar will not allow the person you are sharing with to see any information on your calendar at all, including Free/Busy.
By default, everyone can see the free/busy status of a Resource Account while proposing a meeting, but cannot open the resource's calendar. This procedure explains how the owner of a Resource Account can grant additional access rights (viewing and/or editing) to a Resource Account.
First, you'll need to add the Resource Account to Outlook. You only need to do this once for each Resource Account you manage, and you may have done this already for other reasons. Follow the first 3 steps of our procedure. If you see the Resource Account listed, you've already completed this task, and you're ready to proceed with granting access rights.
If the resource is not listed, complete the procedure to add it. You will not be able to complete the steps below until you have added the Resource Account to your view of Outlook.
Sharing the Resource's Calendar with an Individual. Do not, for any reason, Remove the Default or Anonymous entries. Removing these will break things. Do not, for any reason, Remove or modify any listing that begins with 'ga.' , such as ga.ACCESS or ga.ADMIN.
Go to Outlook's Calendar. In the Navigation Pane, you should see the resource listed under My Calendars. Right-click or ctrl-click on the Resource Account's Calendar (make sure you're not clicking on your own calendar), then select Sharing Permissions from the drop-down menu.
A Folder Properties dialog box will open, displaying the Permissions tab. Click Add User. Type all or part of the person's name, then click Find. If you don't get the name exactly right, the Exchange server will try to find the person you're looking for. Check to make sure it's the right one, or click on the right one.
Then click OK. The person you selected will now appear in the list of users with permissions set to None. From the Permission Level drop-down, select the desired level of access. None - no access other than seeing Free/Busy while proposing a meeting. Reviewer - the person can open the calendar and see the details of the items on the calendar, but can't add, delete, or change anything.
Author - the person can can open the calendar and see the details of the items on your calendar, and can create, modify, and delete items that he or she creates. The person cannot modify or delete something created by other people. Editor - the person can do everything that an Author has permission to do and can modify and delete the items that others created. Repeat with additional users if needed. Click OK to close the Folder Properties dialog box. Sharing the Resource's Calendar with Everyone at Cornell This option changes what everyone at Cornell can see about the resource's calendar.
This option is NOT required for people to 'invite' the resource to an event. Do not, for any reason, Remove the Default or Anonymous entries. Removing these will break things. Do not change the Anonymous entry; leave it set to None.
In the table at the top of the Permissions tab, you'll find an entry for Default.
Click on this entry to highlight it. From the Permission Level drop-down, select the desired level of access.
None - no access other than seeing Free/Busy while proposing a meeting. Reviewer - the person can open the calendar and see the details of the items on the calendar, but can't add, delete, or change anything.
Do not select any permission setting higher than Reviewer, as this will allow anyone with an Exchange account to change events on the resource's calendar. That would be bad. Click OK to close the Folder Properties dialog box. About this Article.
I want to be able to share my office 365 for Mac Outlook Calendar. When I go into the organise tab the following buttons are greyed out: Open Shared Calendar Calendar Permissions Folder Properties Sync I have seen this answer It seems to be saying that the cause of the Greyout is that sharing sub-folder calendars is not possible. I am not entirely sure what a sub-folder calendar is. I dont have any sub folder calendars.
I have just the one calendar that I use. Of the three screen shots provided in the answer the first (the parent folder) looks like what I have on my computer - except that the buttons are greyed out as described above.
The second screen shot is not what I see on my computer (i.e. I don't have any sub-folders).
The similarity is that the sharing buttons as described above is greyed out. Help - this is all proving to be much too difficult.Post moved by the moderator to the appropriate forum category. One month ago - Claud Wang MSFT Support said 'Thanks for reporting the issue. I will do some consult and reply to you once I get some updates. Thanks, Claud' Since then no reply.
How long does it take to consult and reply? I have cut and paste my original question that MSFT Support has ignored. ' want to be able to share my office 365 for Mac Outlook Calendar. does the issue occur to a specific shared calendar? I suggest you create a new shared mailbox, grant the full access permission to you and check the result. Furthermore, could you provide some detailed steps, so i can do a test and check if i can reproduce the issue? Best regards, neo. Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it did not solve the problem (I still cannot see the calendars of colleagues in our business and the Exchange network).
I do not think that Office 2016 for Mac has the full functionality for calendars like the Windows version. The iOS versions also lack this critical feature, which makes Outlook unusable for us in a Mac or iOS device. There IS a solution for Apple users who need full functionality of calendars and it is MS OWA. It works with full calendar function (can schedule meetings easily- like the full Windows version of Outlook where calendars of entire workforce can be seen). Hopefully Microsoft is working on this essential upgrade on next version of Outlook 2016 for Mac and iOS Outlook app.
This missing feature is very important as we can only use a Windows PC or OWA to schedule a meeting right now. Has any of this been fixed yet?
